Found On The Ground: In A Blizzard

I was walking up King St. in Old Town Alexandria a few days ago. The great Blizzard of 2016 had just unleashed its wrath on the D.C. area, and I was exploring the aftermath.  At the bottom of King Street, upon a snow bank something peculiar caught my eye:

potato

What was a lonely potato doing on the snow? Where did it come from? Was it from one of the many nearby restaurants? Or did it drop out of someone’s grocery bag? How long was this potato sitting there? How long did it expect to linger? This is definitely one of the more strange things I have spotted on the ground, for sure.
